No matter how awkward
it feels, always try to negotiate. And
negotiating isn't just for flea markets
and yard sales. We have been able to
negotiate with hotels, consignment stores
and small specialty shops.
Don't forget:
Many times, items won't be tagged at
all and vendors will size you up to
determine how much you'll be willing
to pay. Therefore, do leave your fancy
clothes and jewelry at home.
Do chat
with vendors. Get friendly.
The more they like you, the better
price you're likely to get.
Don't be
afraid to ask vendors questions.
If they're professional re-sellers,
they'll know the history of the items
they're selling. You'll get an education
and probably a better price...back
to that whole get friendly thing.
Do wait on an item
if you can. You're likely to
get a better deal on the last day of
the sale or at the end of the day as
many times vendors would rather sell
off items than cart them back home.
