Thumbing through magazines is a
great way to get ideas for things
to look for at yard sales and flea
markets, but if you don't remember
those fabulous ideas why bother? Clip
the pictures and organize them into
a "wish" notebook.
What do you
clip?
Clip pictures of items you want to
buy whether it's that specific item
or simply something similar. Clip
pictures of entire rooms that you
likethis gives you a road map
to follow. We also like to clip pictures
of things that remind us of items
we can make if we found the right
pieces.
How do you
organize it?
We prefer a looseleaf binder but you
could use a spiral bound notebook
or even index cards in a box. Tape
your pictures to the page or card
and include any distinguishing information
such as a particular pattern name
or color. Also include size.
You can divide your notebook into
sections that correspond to rooms
or to types of items such as furniture,
linen, etc. We use tabs for furniture,
home accessories, clothing and personal
accessories and garden items . Do
whatever works for you.
We have found this system to be particularly
helpful when furnishing a room or
house or undertaking a redecorating
project.
By clipping
and organizing you are: 1.
visualizing what you are looking for
to help keep you focused when shopping
2.
virtually living with something before
you actually find it or have the time
or money to accomplish the project
3.
making a plan. You can purchase items
as you can afford them or as you find
them…but at least you know what you
want to end up with
