What do large pots and
light fixtures have in common? They
can be one in the same.
If you are in need of an inexpensive
hanging light fixture, let your Discount
Divas shed some light on an affordable
and innovative lighting solution.
Scour your flea markets, resale shops,
garden centers and garage sales for
interesting pots used for plants.
The pot you ultimately select must
have a drainage hole through which
the light kit can be threaded once
the pot is turned upside down. (Light
kits can be purchased from a local
home improvement or hardware store—remember
to check out discount stores first!)
Depending on the size of the space
in which it will hang, it may need
to be a rather large pot.
DivaPam used a very large, heavy
plastic terracotta colored pot and
stenciled her last name on it with
red nail polish for a dramatic look.
You can buy pots already decorated
or use your creativity to decorate
them with stencils, bold colors or
even have children paint them. Either
way, just make sure your light kit
includes a cord that can hold the
weight of the pot you select.
