I admit, I have a thing
for gift baskets, giving
them and getting them. So
imagine the epiphany I had
when it dawned on me...gift
baskets could be the perfect
solution to resale gift
giving. It all started at
one of my favorite haunts,
the Thermal
Belt Habitat store in
South Carolina. While I
was waiting in the checkout
line, I happened to glance
around at the various tables
and noticed a beautiful
Scandinavian cheese board.
A few tables over from that
I spotted a great folk art
“Welcome to My Home”
sign for a front door and
a couple of shelves past
that was a beautiful
pair of wine glasses. My
obsession for gift baskets
all seemed to connect these
treasures as a great combination
gift!
The
Experiment Begins
But being the diligent shopper
that I am, I wanted to make
sure there was really enough
items at a resale store
to make up a variety of
baskets before suggesting
this idea to other Divas.
So I asked Debbie, the store
manager, if she would let
me conduct a “resale
experiment.” Debbie
is not only friendly, but
she is also an adventurous
spirit, so she agreed.
For the experiment, I brought
a fellow Discount Diva,
Mary Greene, along as she
not only appreciates resale,
but is very clever. Even
with our formidable combined
shopping experience, we
were a little nervous that
we wouldn't be able to pull
this off. But once we forged
ahead we were DivaDelighted
as the basket options were
endless.
