Family
Fun Basket
Mary immediately grabbed
a bright blue laundry basket
and moments later emerged
from the bowels of the store
with a “Family
Fun Basket.”
She rolled up a soft
and colorful blanket ($4)
and
added it to the $2
basket
along with the following:
2 family (Disney-type)
videos (.50 each)
$1.00
2 puzzles, never opened
so all pieces are there
(.25 cents each)
$0.50
A couple of interesting
books (.50 cents each)
$1.00
A lap desk
$1.00
4 plastic mugs for
hot chocolate (.25 cents
each)
$1.00
A popcorn popper (an
alternative to the microwave
types)
$0.50
add blanket and basket
mentioned above
$6.00
Approximate
cost of the “Family
Fun Basket”
$11.00
For added
pleasure, divalicious movie
theater candy classics like
Snow Caps, Milk Duds, Raisinettes,
and Dots could be added to
the baskets. These and other
candy classics are now widely
available in most dollar stores.
The
Ultimate Diva Basket
Meanwhile I was pledged into
service creating the ultimate
“Diva Basket.”
I grabbed an electric
foot massager in perfect condition
for $5 and
began adding “like”
items. I found a working
hairdryer for $1,
a curling
iron still in the box for
$2,
a
scented candle in a frosted
glass candle holder (.50 cents),
a couple of trashy novels
at .50 cents each ($1), and
a women’s journal for
.50 cents. I
can just picture myself using
it. As my feet soak in the
foot massager’s warm
aromatic waters my husband
will be feeding me grapes
as he gently blows my hair
dry which my daughter will
then begin curling. I wouldn’t
even need the trashy romance
novels but I would undoubtedly
have plenty of reasons to
put the journal to good use
... What an experience for
$10!
