Diva Missy
here...Ever since I first
went to the Unclaimed Baggage
Center in Scottsboro, Alabama,
I have promised my Diva mom
that I would take her with
me sometime. Well, sometime
finally happened last week,
and she was very impressed!
First stop, the fabulous
in-store coffee bar for
a Starbucks café
mocha to fuel us up for
the hunt. As we set off
to shop, my mother headed
straight for the clothes.
She was obviously a novice!
I advised her that there
were more clothes than anything
else there, so that she
should start at jewelry
or electronics. She compromised
and went to jewelry and
books.
Two hours later, we met
up to compare notes. She
had found a great suede
jacket for my dad for $49.00.
It still had a $100.00 new
price tag on it, so he will
get it for Christmas. She
found a Coldwater Creek
black knit jacket for $8,
a black coat sweater for
$5, a child’s denim
purse for $2, a silver bracelet
for $25, and miscellaneous
jewelry and books, for a
few bucks a piece. She also
finished her birthday shopping
for her son in law as she
found him a great microfiber
jacket for $12. (I won't
mention which son-in-law
so it will still be a surprise!)
Since a Diva must have sparkle,
I snapped up a fabulous
denim jacket with sparkles
on it for $4. I also found
a DKNY great blue sweater
for $6, some brand new denim
high heeled shoes for $15.00,
and a brand new video for
my daughter for $4. I also
bought a few books that
I had wanted to read, but
not bad enough to pay $20
a piece for new!
Although we could have spent
all day shopping, my mom
had a plane to catch, so
we left. Scottsboro also
has a downtown historic
district just a few blocks
from the Unclaimed Baggage
Center. We did not have
time on this trip to browse
the many antique stores,
but we managed to stop in
one of the more unique shops,
Hammers. The variety of
items at Hammers will remind
you of a store from yesteryear.
So Divas and Dudes, if your
travels ever take you to
Alabama, make sure you visit
Scottsboro. As a matter
of fact, it is worth a special
trip. There is enough to
do in the area to keep you
busy for a few days.
