Diva Missy
here...How many of you Dudes
go to the dump….not
to drop off stuff, but to
get more? And how many of
you Divas ask your husband
to take you to the dump when
they go there?
Well, this Diva did just
that. My Discount Dude tried
to discourage me from going
as he said as soon as you
dump your stuff, a big tractor
comes and crushes it...so
there would be nothing there
to scavenge.
Well, he was right...there
was nothing there in one
piece. However, as he was
unloading and I was sitting
in the truck, an expensive
SUV pulls up next to us,
and this guy gets out and
starts unloading toys, hoola
hoops, a nice mattress,
a dresser, and bags and
bags of stuff.
Finally,
he pulls out this huge wrought
iron and glass light fixture.
He gave it a second look
like he was not sure he
should dump it, and then
he did. All the while, I
am eyeing the tractor, who
seemed to be on a break.
The guy was just closing
his SUV door, when here
comes the tractor.
As the SUV pulled away,
I jumped out of the truck
and started to go over to
his pile of treasures, here
comes the huge tractor.
He started beeping so everyone
would get out of the way.
I did not have time to get
the light fixture.
I was so upset. It physically
hurt me when I saw all of
that perfectly good stuff
being crushed to garbage.
I mean, there are homeless
people living on the streets,
that could have used the
mattress and underprivileged
kids would have loved the
toys.
I lamented all the way home
about how I could not believe
that these people would
throw out such perfectly
good stuff that could have
gone in a yard sale, or
to Goodwill, and how I could
have at least rescued the
light fixture.
When we pulled into our
driveway, guess what my
Dude pulled out of the back
of the truck? The light
fixture! He must have grabbed
it right before destruction
and I did not notice! I
could not believe it, I
was so happy! You would
have thought he rescued
a puppy.
